Our Community and the World Around Us

This week children are exploring their local community in Arusha — the people, places, and traditions that make our city special. We are learning about kindness, helping others, and what it means to belong somewhere.

Things to try at home this week:

Talk about your neighbourhood — who lives nearby, what you can hear and see
Draw or paint your home and the street outside — colours, trees, people
Practise one act of kindness together as a family

The Little Nest Reading Corner — supporting early literacy by helping children and families discover the magic of stories together

Welcome to The Little Nest Reading Corner

Pembe ya Kusoma — a warm, magical place to discover stories together. Every book here is a real, free storybook you can open and read right now — many in both Kiswahili and English, with audio. Curl up with your child and let the reading adventure begin.

Stories come from Storybooks Kenya & African Storybook — openly licensed (CC-BY) for children across Africa. 📚

The Little Nest Selection — Reading & Comprehension

Hand-picked by our teachers — read the full book right here, then explore the comprehension questions together.

💬 Dear Parents — a note about homework

These books are part of your child’s homework. Each week, your child will bring home a set of comprehension questions in their bag.

Over the five days, we kindly ask you to read the book together with your child each day, and to go through the questions and answers as you read. The same questions will then be asked at school, so reading and talking about them at home helps your child feel confident and prepared.

This gentle daily routine is designed to strengthen your child’s comprehension — helping them understand and enjoy what they read. Thank you for reading with your child and being part of their learning journey. 💖
